City Civil Court in Hyderabad has passed an ad interim injunction restraining D T Media and Entertainment Private Limited, publishers of the Education World magazine from publishing defamatory content against C fore, a premier market research firm that pioneered school ranking in India .
For over 16 years, C fore conducted the largest school survey in India the findings of which were published by D T Media and Entertainment Private Limited as India School Rankings, Higher Education Rankings, and India Preschool Rankings, published annually in their Education World magazine. However, the partnership soured recently when
C fore announced it would launch its own website to publish school, college, and preschool rankings based on its independent surveys.
Education World and D T Media and Entertainment Private Limited responded by sending public notices to schools across India, casting aspersions on C fore’s credibility. This prompted Premchand Palety founder of C fore to file a defamation suit before the Hon’ble Additional Chief Judge, City Civil Court, in Hyderabad, seeking a perpetual injunction against Education World from publishing any defamatory material and claiming compensation for reputational damage.
