Shiv Nadar University Chennai conducted its flagship event, EduQuest 2023-24, a National-level educational fest for school students in grades 9-12, at its campus in Chennai. The fest gave the students a glimpse into university life, featuring a potpourri of events, including a quiz competition titled QuBiz & project competition titled ProjectX with noteworthy prizes & scholarships to the tune of Rs. 10 Lakhs. This initiative aimed to engage, inspire, and equip students with insights into higher education and potential career paths.
ProjectX: SNU Chennai witnessed over two hundred teams, internationally and all over India, who registered to participate in the ProjectX competition and submitted their innovative project proposals. Registrations included students from Abu Dhabi, New Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat, Bhubaneshwar, Kolkata, Jaipur, and all-over South India. After a comprehensive review of over 200 projects, it was narrowed down to 50+ projects that met the key requirements.
The theme for ProjectX was “STEM for Sustainable Development”. The campus was filled with innovative ideas and project models all waiting to scale and make a difference in society. International participants connected virtually, demonstrating their talents through online platforms. The judging panel included the top computer science and engineering faculty of the University, and it was indeed overwhelming to see high school students come up with interesting ideas who believed that it was a way forward.
The final winners of SNUC ProjectX were S. Naren RajaSekhar, M Senthil Kumar, M Vishal from Pushpalata Matric Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli. They won a cash prize of Rs.25,000. Akshat Garg and Bhaskar Singh from Jayshree Periwal International School, Jaipur secured second place and Advaith Kaushik and Yuvan from Yellow Train School, Coimbatore secured third place getting a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. Rs. 5000 respectively.
QuBiz: The Zonal rounds of the Quiz Competition was a roadshow in 12 locations across India in Coimbatore, Madurai, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Salem, Ooty, Hyderabad, Guntur, Pondicherry, Bangalore, and Chennai which was held from October 2023 to January 2024. The winners in each of the zonal rounds were called to the Shiv Nadar University Chennai campus for the grand finale. The final winners of the SNUC QuBiz- Quiz Competition were R. Shyam Sundar and Arjun Vaidhyanathan from PSBB KK Nagar, Chennai. They won a cash prize of Rs. 25,000. Harshad R and Chaitanya R from AMM School, Chennai secured second place and Sree Mukund Arun Nambiyar and Vishal Karthik from DAV Public School, Chennai secured third place getting a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5000, respectively.
The QuBiz was seamlessly conducted by renowned Quizmaster Dr. M. Rangarajan, who serves as the CEO of Mindgames and has organized more than 1000 quiz competitions all over India.
The prestigious trophies of EduQuest 2 along with certificates and prize amount was personally handed over to the winners by Dr. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University Chennai. Alongside him, Dr. Nallusamy, Registrar, Dr. Venugopal, Prof of Mathematics, Mr. Parthasarthi Neogi, Head of Admissions & Mr. Samuel Giftson, Manager – Marketing & Outreach were present at the closing ceremony.
