“Societal development is the main aim of space technology and ISRO is continuously striving towards achieving that goal” observed Dr. A S Kiran Kumar, Former Chairman, ISRO  at the 77 th WiseViews Leadership Conversations webinar series conducted by ICFAI on 21 st October 2022. He spoke on the topic “Space, Technology & Society – Lessons from ISRO.”
Dr. Kiran Kumar stated that India started its space operations ten years after achieving the independence under the visionary leadership of Sri Vikram Sarabhai. From 1991 onwards the funding for the ISRO was gradually increased. Dr. Kiran Kumar said that all the funds were judiciously utilized to design and develop various space research programs for societal development.
“Owing to the innovative and robust space technology, India is today witnessing the rapid transformation in terms of the advancement of the living style of the people”, said Dr. Kiran Kumar. He gave the example of smart Set Top Box (STB) that has replaced the long TV antennas used in the early 1990s. Similarly, lots of other programs were designed by virtue of which we have not only strengthened our defense sector but also developed economically.
Dr. Kiran Kumar also stated that India now has progressed remarkably in the space research
and many startups are coming forward to work in this area. “Look for the future..Look for Space”, he quipped. Answering to a query in the Q & A session, Dr. Kiran Kumar stated that “it is unfair to compare the activities of NASA with ISRO because the former has started its operations much earlier and it also has the luxury of sufficient funding from the super power of the world”. The conversation was moderated by Prof. R Prasad, Director – Academic Wing, ICFAI Group and Prof. Sudhakar Rao, Director – Branding, ICFAI Group .About 250 participants including researchers, faculty, working professionals, and students attended the webinar which was also live-streamed on Facebook.

SP Jain School of Global Management, a Forbes #12 ranked business school, has outperformed every university in Australia in the percentage of overseas student employment (full-time). The other parameters were overall employment rate, labour force participation rate and median salary. Compared with the 40 Australian universities across all disciplines, SP Jain outperformed the university average by a large measure on three of the four employment outcomes.SP Jain, on all indicators, has better employment outcomes in Business & Management than the international student sector averages. Of the 32 private providers surveyed, SP Jain had the second-highest full-time employment rate and the 5th highest median salary.

The QILT surveys are Australia’s largest government-sponsored learning and teaching surveys. By bringing together data from all Australian institutions concerning students’ experiences and graduate career outcomes, the information gained from these surveys assists students in making informed decisions about their higher education options. Students may compare schools based on the findings of hundreds of QILT questionnaires filled out by current and recent students and alumni. The polls take into account a variety of factors, including satisfaction with face-to-face conversations, computer access, graduation incomes, and employment outcomes. The 2021 Graduate Outcomes Survey is a study of recent graduates four to six months after the completion of their studies.

Commenting on these rankings, Mr. Nitish Jain, President of SP Jain Global, said—” We are delighted to have done well across all parameters. Many factors are used in determining these rankings. For us, graduate success is key. The impact of SP Jain’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program is reflected through the success of our many alumni who are working at top organisations literally all around the world.”

In 2021, the school reported that over 80% of its students who stayed back in Australia upon completing their BBA secured full-time roles at average starting salaries of AUD 55,000. Students also received offers from companies based in the US, Dubai, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Colombia.

“Being a student-centric institution of higher learning, SP Jain focuses on all three parameters – Input (admissions), Processes (Curriculum) and Output (placement). Clearly, the placement of our students and the resounding success of our alumni aligns quite well with what we’ve seen from this recent 2021 QILT graduate outcomes survey. Every effort is taken by the team at SP Jain to ensure that no stone is unturned with a primary objective on student success and well-being and in transforming them to become responsible citizens,” shared Dr Vaidyanathan (Vaidy) Jayaraman, Dean of the School’s UG Programs & Professor of Supply Chain Operations, Data Sciences & Analytics.

SP Jain Global’s BBA is a 4-year multi-city program where students live, study and work in three of the world’s leading business capitals. They can spend year 1 in Singapore or Mumbai, year 2 in Dubai, and years 3 and 4 in Australia. Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu in his speech on the Silver Jubilee celebrations occasion of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University Tuesday, Wardha, laid emphasis on the importance of mother tongue to be introduced in schools and teach subjects in the native language in the foundational years of the student life.

He remembered Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Nai Talim’ started in Wardha in 1937 that stressed on the need to make the native language as the necessary mandate in schools, along with free compulsory education to students. He further glorified the linguistic diversity of the country and how it symbolises our strength and cultural unity.

He recalled the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, how he gave importance to all languages and people’s sensitivity to their native language and also how he equated mother tongue with Swaraj. The vice president also asserted on the fact that Indian languages played a crucial part in bridging the gap between overseas Indians and motherland India.

He also recommended universities’ language departments to support and preserve the thread of linguistic unity and improve dialogue between Indian languages and universities’ language departments.

BML Munjal University (BMU), in partnership with Indian Academy of Management (INDAM), concluded its third research workshop that aims to encourage management research in India. Renowned professors from both international and Indian universities including Tel Aviv University, London School of Economics, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Loughborough University (UK), and XLRI shared their perspectives. The academics spoke across a variety of subjects that included guidelines to writing an impactful research paper, research methodologies, and understanding management research in the Asian context in terms of both challenges and opportunities.

India has far fewer researchers than China and the US, says a recent report by Think-tank Brookings India. India has 216.2 researchers per one million inhabitants, against 1,200 in China, 4,300 in the US, and 7,100 in South Korea, according to the report. Research productivity of Indian scholars is low and the workshop by BMU and INDAM aims to provide next generation researchers and scholars with the tools to develop world-class research and publish in top journals, in order to maximise their exposure on a global scale.

The workshop was attended by over 100 PhD scholars and other academics. Parallely, a poster competition initiated by BMU, that invited students to share their research proposals in this succinct manner, came to a close with the winner being announced.

Dr. Vishal Talwar, Dean of School Management, BML Munjal University, said, “ A deeper research orientation is key for the progress of our country as a high density of researchers have a direct benefit on industries and thus the economy. With this, we firmly believe that the world of tomorrow will be driven by knowledge to discover creative solutions.”

During his keynote speech on Abduction and Empirical Exploration in Management Research, Prof Peter A. Bamberger, Editor-in-Chief of Academy of Management Discoveries, Head of the Organizational Behavior Department, Tel Aviv University; & Research Director, Smithers Institute, ILR School, Cornell University, said, “Empirical exploration, the approach to research that we publish in our journal, is not only critical to the future of management scholarship, it is ideal for Indian scholars.  There are hundreds of uniquely Indian organizational phenomena waiting to be discovered that could have a profound impact on the field of management. My hope is that through workshops such as the one here at BMU, we can boost the research competencies of Indian scholars and help them leverage the unique research opportunities available to them.”

Dr. Payal Kumar, Professor and Chair (HR/OB), BML Munjal University “We are privileged to be hosting this research workshop with INDAM, an affiliate of the Academy of Management (USA), that is the best in the field of management research and education. This initiative is yet another milestone in our focus to bring the best of management education in India that helps shape the leaders of tomorrow.”

Now on the stage – Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, Isaak Kalina, Head of the Moscow Department of Education,  Elena Shmeleva, Head of Educational Foundation “Talent and success” and Alevtina Chernykova, Rector of NUST MISIS. Speakers discussed what has already been done for the development of  Moscow schools and the results are visible!

Waiting lists for school enrolment are disappearing, teachers’ salaries are rising, new equipment was installed at schools, e-school and specialized classes were introduced, the level of pupils preparation is rising, they can easily overcome the unified state exam threshold of 220 points.  The competition at the academic competitions is increasing, 228 schools out of a total of 1500 Moscow schools have pupils who are winners and runners-up of all-Russian competitions. Their graduates are the student of the leading Russian universities.

The Mayor of Moscow also said that 1.5 million children will start their education at schools and kindergartens this year. It is the record and also a new challenge! We can not stop! We understand that every child who starts school should receive the knowledge the school offers and even more! Segey Sobyanin said: “ We understand our duty, duty to our teachers and also to boys and girls in Moscow who begin their adult life”.

To summarize I would like to say that we have enough opportunities so we should move only forward! Please attend the forum “City for Education” and give your feedback, tell us what is the school of the future.

realme, India’s fast-emerging smartphone brand, has now launched Capus Stars Program, an initiative for students to showcase their talent, receive national exposure, and win exciting prizes. The competitive campaign themed on ‘Dare to Leap’ – which has four different phases – will start from 15th of July, 2019 and conclude on 15th of October, 2019 with the announcement of winners.

Students in college societies such as Photography, Theatre, Music, and Dance can enrol their societies in the event from 15th of July to 25th of July, 2019. This will be followed by submission of work by 9th of August, 2019. Their individual works will be evaluated and Top 40 Societies – 10 each in the categories of Photography, Theatre, Music, and Dance – will be announced by 12th of August, 2019. These 40 societies will then be pitted against each other for the final round consisting of four tasks, each related to the respective societies. Every team will have to complete its tasks in the given time and budget and submit their entries.

All tasks will have to be themed on ‘Dare to Leap’, with integration of realme brand/products in all of the assigned tasks. They will also have to conduct and promote offline events/activities in the campus. Further, they will be needed to promote the created content online.

Mr. Madhav Sheth, CEO – realme said, “India is a land of enormous talent. We have seen talented individuals of virtually every field originating from the country who have not only proven their mettle in India, but also across the globe. However, a majority of time this talent doesn’t receive the right exposure. This sheer unavailability of a platform makes us lose a fair share of people who could’ve achieved a lot more had they been supported at the right time. With Campus Stars Program, our aim is to channelize our youth towards creative fields and give high-potential talent a national exposure right in its formative years.”
