Priyal Gupta, a Special Educator at Orchids – The International School (OIS), Gurugram is currently living the life that she always wanted to – helping those in need of mental and emotional support. A survivor herself, Priyal always wanted to lend a helping hand to people who needed the much needed attention and special care to help overcome their distress, and live a normal life. Her decision to be a special educator came with her experience of being on the other side of the table, and it was certainly not easy.
The hurdles
At the tender age of 11 Priyal realized that she was being brought up by her aunt, and that her mother had passed away when she was only six months old. It was difficult for Priyal to accept that reality; too shocked Priyal could not speak to anyone about this and decided to keep it as her very own secret. This was one of the first instances where she began bundling up her feelings and not open up to anyone else. She kept this within herself for close to five years until she finally had the courage to ask her aunt about it. Her aunt did not tell her anything and Priyal was not keen to speak about this to anyone else in the family. Till today, she doesn’t know
what happened to her mother. While she was trying to cope up with this drastic news, at school, she was being bullied for her skin tone. The constant nagging and smirks was not something she could bear. The bullying
continued and she decided to move with her father, stepmother and stepbrother. Things were not easy there as she was treated differently. Unfortunately, her father too did not speak to her at home, and everyone only had basic conversations with her and this indifference continued for three long years. Priyal began wondering that no one loved her and slowly slipped into depression. An otherwise brilliant student, her grades went down, but Priyal was unable to figure out the reason for her under performance in academics. When support came in
After schooling she started going to the college, but she kept her classmates and roommates at a distance. She was aloof and always preferred to be herself; she even had thoughts of causing self-harm. But her aloofness and silent cries did not go unnoticed. Her room mates at the hostel encouraged her to open up, and her cousin to whom she still goes to advice instilled the much needed confidence she needed. In Priyal’s own words, “My sister told me that if I want to do my best in studies, I need to have a hold on my emotions. I need to ensure that no one’s comments hurt me or hamper my mental state. She told me that I need to focus on my future
career if I want to be independent and live life on my own terms.” Inspired by the support and love she was receiving, she then decided to turn her life around. Taking control of herself and building her mental fortitude, Priyal started getting better mentally as well as academically. “Those words by my sister changed my life and I still take advice from her for anything. Also, if my friends hadn’t supported me at that point of time, I
wouldn’t be here today.” Priyal said. During this time, Priyal came to know that one of her cousin was diagnosed with autism. She decided to not contemplate any further and began her search to build a career in counselling.
She completed her Integrated B.Com, B.Ed Special Education and a Masters in Learning Disability. Currently, she is also planning to pursue MA in Counseling. Today, Priyal is helping special students at OIS, Gurugram as well as guiding other students at the school who need her support. She is currently a special educator and looking after two special children at the school, apart from these, she also conducts mental health sessions with other students. “My relationship with my stepmother as well as my brother has improved. I am proud of where I have reached and how I have achieved success today,” Priyal said. She looks forward to supporting and being there for anyone who needs someone to listen, and help them overcome their distress, and just be there for them.

Writing a story is all about coming up with a plot, having a strong imagination, creativity, and a coherent thought process. Inspired by reading various mystery and adventure fiction books of Sherlock Holmes, Robert Louis Stevenson, Mark Twain, Pramukh G, an 8th grader CMR National Public School has written and published his first book The Three Excursionists and the Mysteries of Marville Woods. This mystery, action, and adventure-filled book is about three siblings on a camp, their adventures, struggles, and hard decisions to solve a peculiar mystery in the forest. The book is now available on Amazon India, in kindle and paperback format.

In the book, the trio has an unexpected thrilling separation, lost in the middle of nowhere, and then has to survive the nights alone. They set out to find their siblings in the beautiful wilderness, after hours of searching, finally being united with their siblings only to find out their class had been kidnapped! They find a half-scribbled note reading – Jewe… written in a hurry. The book is all about mystery and adventure through the forest terrain and consent with the wild to solve this mysterious puzzle that makes us wonder will the trio be able to find their class? Are they going to unveil the truth? And will they ever learn the meaning of Jewe…?

Delighted over publishing his first book, Pramukh said, “Since my childhood, I was passionate about reading poems, stories, novels especially adventure and mystery. This inspired me to write short stories initially. I have now written many short stories and participated in various writing competitions in school. This helped me discover the true meaning of words and I started analysing words in every piece of writing I happen to read. As I was exposed to more such books, it eventually inspired me to write a book all by myself. So I came up with a plot, characters in the plot, and started penning down my thoughts which finally culminated in The Three Excursionists and the Mysteries of Marville Woods. Unlike the other mystery books, the plot of my book is unpredictable.”

Congratulating Pramukh, Ms. Swati Soni, Head of School, CMRNPS, said, “It gives us immense pleasure to see such bright, creative, and skillful students at our school. We at CMR NPS always encourage students to participate in various events and competitions that help upskill students and increase their knowledge. I want to congratulate Pramukh on publishing his first book and encourage him to continue writing more.”

This story puts six of the most skillful plot twists in play, which mould the story in a fascinating way. With things not coming together very easily for the trio, this adventure is sure to be one of the cleverest and substantial mysteries ever, one of the best thereof it’s kind.

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveller who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveller saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveller left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.

“I’ve been thinking,” he said, “I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me something more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone. Knowledge is wisdom. However, the shortcoming with our current education system is that it befits teaching not learning.

Let’s evaluate our childhood. How did we learn the fundamental things such as how to walk, talk, eat and dress without being schooled or being taught to us? As adults most of what we learn comes from observation, drawing from experiences and in situations wherein we need to apply what we have gathered. Most of what is taught in classroom settings is forgotten, and much or what is remembered is irrelevant.

Our current grading system rewards students who are good at memorizing rather than learning. Students traditionally mug things to pass examinations and forget it immediately later. Today, everyone realises and are aware of the fact that most of what is desired from them can be performed by machines such as computers and calculators. Why should children — or adults, for that matter — be asked to do something computers and related equipment can do much better than they can? Instead, why can’t we devise an education system that would focus on those things that humans to better than the machines. Why doesn’t education focus on what humans can do better than the machines and instruments they create?

Rote learning has been the foundation of our current system where students are not encouraged to question, to learn. A lot of digital platforms are challenging the existing status quo with interactive and customized learning for every student. GuruQ, a digital learning platform advocate that every child is unique and need customized learning styles that allow them to progress.

There are many different ways of learning; teaching is only one of them. We learn things on our own, from the environment and from other experiences. As individuals we pick a lot from interactions also (both formal and informal). This two-way sharing enables us to talk of learnings and hear from others. We learn a great deal on our own, in independent study or play. ‘Learning by doing’ is an age-old method learning by trial and error. Long before there were schools as we know them, there was apprenticeship — learning how to do something by trying it under the guidance of one who knows how. For example, one can learn more architecture by having to design and build one’s own house than by taking any number of courses on the subject. When physicians are asked whether they learned more in classes or during their internship, without exception they answer, “Internship.”

When it comes to our educational process, multiple options should be suggested to students. In fact, students could experiment between learning styles to understand what suits them best. They do not have to learn different things the same way. In the end, the objective of education is learning and not teaching so the student must have the flexibility to learn from where she intends to.

In conversation with Tom Gifford, Assistant Director, International Recruitment, within the Experience, Operations portfolio at RMIT University

How learning programming/ Python is important for any career in the post-COVID-19 times?

One of the prevalent impact of lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak is the faster embracing of technology across the globe. The pandemic has made everyone realize the shifting nature of jobs and that technology is the future. This turnaround of events will lead to a sharper rise in the demand for digital skills moving forward. The future of jobs would involve Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, Data Science, Data analytics, automation and more technologies in one way or the other.

In my view, for aspirants/ students, this lockdown period has presented an opportunity to choose and learn from the plethora of tech programmes and learn the tech skills they want. Python has been observed as a popular programming language among students during this phase and it will continue to gain further momentum. With an introduction to Python, students can start building the base for data science, analytics and machine learning. Moreover, this programming language is very user friendly. A student with knowledge and hands-on experience in Python gets a head-start for his/her career in computer science, gaming and information technology.

Why is it imperative to introduce programming to every student at the school level itself? How soon a student (which class) can be introduced to the subject?

In my opinion, everyone should learn programming predominantly school students. Programming aids students learn to analyse, think critically and creatively solve problems. Understanding computers and learning the basics of programming would help students to grow an appreciation for how things work.

More importantly, they will learn while learning programming, the essential life skills besides the tech skills. They will learn to think and solve problems in a logical and creative manner. Students would also learn to nosedive but at the same time acquire the ability to spring back post failures. Making mistakes serves as breaks for gaining wisdom.

Students starting from early years should start getting an introduction to the programming language. In India, both CBSE and ICSE boards have announced programming as a part of their computer science course as optional, for most schools. We are ensuing to a point where everything, every job would amalgamate into Computer Science and IT across fields to realize the next level of excellence. Picking up programming skills early on will only help students, at a later stage.

What are the new-age career prospects for students after pursuing a course in programming/ Python course?

The demand and application of programming/ python are anticipated to fast-track in the times to come. A course in programming/ Python would expose to abundant new-age career avenues as a Software Developer, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Big data, Machine learning, Automation, Networking and more. Though attaining the right skills from a good educational institution would be crucial to an affluent career.

How getting international exposure will add value to students’ education and career path?

Studying in a foreign institution is excellent to expand your horizons for both personal growth and professional development. International exposure allows getting to ascertain new things, learning in a dynamic environment where a student acquires better cultural consciousness and understanding of peer students coming from different nations. Learners who study abroad display initiative, the desire to learn and the courage to enter into the unfamiliar terrain. This way a student can develop advanced social skills as well. International student exchange is not just about academic learning but the growth of life skills that goes a long way in an ever more globalized world aiding to build a generation of more leaders and innovators. I believe that getting international exposure is becoming a necessity for resolving grander problems in the world. Businesses across the globe too favour hiring candidates with international experience. The more experience you have abroad, the more you can assist a company to magnify its reach worldwide.

What is the idea behind introducing the GES programme? How is it different from other similar programmes/workshops offered during this COVID era, as every academic institution is proposing something similar either with nominal fees or free of cost?

In this swiftly moving world, it is vital to prepare students for the future of what’s next in computer science, gaming and information technology at a young age. We wanted to provide students with the taste of skills and experience that the industry needs through our special Global Extension Studies (GES) programme. This is an introductory-level programming principles, design and development course in Python. We envisioned delivering experiential learning with hands-on experience through the GES programme.

It is a world-first IT course giving Indian school students a passageway to programming, equips them for careers in IT in the Post COVID-19 World. To save their time and money on undergraduate studies, RMIT University would provide students with one subject of credit towards Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology at the University.

Students aiming to build a career in the IT field and high achieving students can look forward to a completion certificate, scholarships with a maximum of 20% waiver on tuition fee to study at RMIT University, along with potential internship opportunities and selection for summer school programmes in India.

In programming, live experiences in a computer lab make sense. How did you manage to deliver 100% learning to the students? What were your success factors?

During these extraordinary times, we had to embrace ourselves to deliver an authentic programming experience to our students using a multitude of remote learning environments. The primary tool we used is an interactive textbook on the trinket platform. This is a novel approach in remotely teaching programming where students can experiment with all programming exercises within the textbook which can be remotely accessible from the web browser. This obliterated the need for any software installed on students’ computers. Moreover, we integrated this interactive textbook within our Learning Management System (LMS) and Collaborative Learning Platform, creating it a one-stop learning environment. This way students were able to experience an authentic learning environment as if they were studying together with an instructor in a traditional laboratory setup.

We have received encouraging feedback from students and a high completion rate of these unrestrained programs.

In conversation with Om Narayan, Head- Enterprise Business Solutions and Academia Relations, Mytat

How is Mytat aiming to contribute to workforce transformation in rural India? Have you started any initiatives?

India has very vast and diverse geography as well as population. India presented some of the world’s best education initiatives and outputs, however, resource crunch and accessibility to the training/ workforce transformation resources are still the major issues. To add, scarcity of credible internship opportunities even after being mandated by relevant bodies like MoHRD, NSDC, MoRD, MoUD, and bodies like AICTE, DGT, NSDC, poses a big challenge in the career path of youths. A huge struggle to gain applied knowledge for students has been observed. The issue of students failing to secure a job even after campus selections or internships led to the genesis of thought to build Mytat back in 2015. Mytat has been in beta use for the past 2-3 years and so far, has reached out to 50,000 candidates across India and helped placed over 1700 students. Recently, we have signed partnerships in Rajasthan with various higher education institutions and will be reaching out to 50,000 candidates in the next one year.

MYTAT has been developed to help students to identify their skill gaps, practice employability related assessments as per industry standards and join live and current theme/technology / problem-based projects that are mentored by industry experienced professionals with a pre and post skill assessment process.

We followed this approach for helping students in the rural rungs of the country earlier however, as the same problem is observed with candidates in urban cities as well, we are reaching out to students across demographics at one go.

How technology can help revive the traditional skill assessment/ SWOT analysis for students?

Traditional assessments were limited to a set of aptitude, functional tests or personality assessment and with a very limited fresher intake. With technological advancement, organizations have started focusing on a 360-degree talent assessment approach, thus, witnessing a shift in the recruitment/ talent acquisition process. A candidate is now being tested basis a series of assessments that are an amalgamation of aptitude, psychometric, coding/technical/non-technical, soft skills, MCQs, Subjective, simulation-based or hackathons, communication skill test– audio, and written etc. Employers use these assessments to take a view on each candidature to determine their long association and success potential in that role.

With technology disrupting the traditional assessments methods, students can benefit not only from skill acquisition initiatives but would also receive insight into their competitiveness in the talent market. This understanding helps him/her make an informed career decision.

How technology can be used to enhance the employability of students, making the platform accessible and scalable across India?

We all are aware that organizations are concentrated in limited cities and so are the professionals. It is impossible to burden organizations to enable students with credible project exposure. Therefore – it is now a necessity to ensure that such opportunities are accessible online during their education or training period, under a professional mentor.

With repetitive project exposure students not only get familiarised with technology but also acclimatise themselves to the process of problem-solving, teamwork and interpersonal relations. Therefore, it is a complete transitional experience for them while they are still on campus.

Technological learning and skill assessment platforms are the way forward. With low-cost data packages, basic laptop and mobile phones. Simple device agnostics, platforms are putting efforts to become scalable while providing easy access to students even in the rural rungs of India.

What are some of the USPs of Mytat and Lrnable vis-a-vis benefits to users?

Mytat has been in a unique position playing a critical role of connecting academia, students and industry. MYTAT’s robust AI/ML-powered assessment engine is being used by the top employer brands across the country.

Our assessment platforms help students to understand their employability and skill gaps. Students can further benefit from the self-paced and gamified learning backed by the inbuilt assessments to gauge their progress. The platform provides access to unlimited practice assessments with unique features of tracking previous scores, mistakes and practising further. These are necessary to acquire the desired technical, soft and new-age skills which are a pre-requisite to be job-ready nowadays. Students on the Mytat platform can also take the advantage of getting connected to the industry through internships or working on projects and learn real-time.

For educational institutions, MYTAT can help, gamify their curriculum and learning assessments. This will help raise students’ performance in the same class; section topic may be used for FDP delayering insights and growth. Mytat will also ease the struggle to facilitate credible internship and placements for these institutions.

On the other hand, corporates will get students who would understand processes and technologies, complementing them with good interpersonal skills and therefore presenting a better human resource tapping/retention opportunity which would indirectly save cost hiring and training cost, adding to the corporates’ overall profitability.

Once a candidate gets hired, Lrnable will further use the insights of MYTAT hiring assessments as development initiative input, facilitating timely learning interventions workshops while gauging the effectiveness of programs and continue to support employees at each career stage.

Thus, organisations with a handy skill matrix can take important business decisions at any given time.

How is Sunstone Eduversity’s MBA curriculum different from that of others?

Since the onset of the pandemic, corporates had to bring-in many changes, whether welcome or not. This has led to the new corporate revolution where industries demand rapid upskilling, especially from new graduates. B-schools are still struggling to keep up with the dynamic industry requirements. Sunstone Eduversity, however, stood out in the post-covid era as a front-leader. By adapting quickly, keeping the course content relevant to the changes in the market, and leading with technology, Sunstone viewed this uncertainty as an opportunity.
Sunstone Eduversity emphasizes on its technology-enabled education delivery which is facilitated by its industry-aligned faculty. It has a very hands-on curriculum with practical interactive learning designed for efficiency. Based on the student’s progress, Sunstone Eduversity’s learning management system suggests personalized remedial methods, generated to strengthen and improve the student’s learning experience. Through tech-enabled teaching, it provides the students with a platform to learn, engage, and tread a tailored learning path. Assignments, quizzes, projects, and notes can be found all in one place on its LMS and it is easily accessible – anytime, anywhere.

Sunstone Eduversity’s Industry-aligned trainings, boot camps, and industry visits form a core part of the syllabus as it understands the need for a practical management curriculum that is at par with the changes in the industry.

How is Sunstone bringing about Financial Empowerment for its students?

In the present scenario, any aspirant that wants to pursue an MBA degree will have to first sort out the financial expenses that this degree typically incurs. Most of these MBA aspirants end up in the rat race by taking hefty loans and sometimes they might not even land a job.

But students at Sunstone don’t have to worry about these financial worries as it offers PayAfterPlacement model where the students need to pay a minimal registration amount and they can pay the rest of the fee after getting a job, thereby becoming financially strong and not financially debted.
Along with this, Sunstone provides the Sunstone Scholarship Test for meritorious students where they can avail scholarships up to INR 1 Lakh and that gets reimbursed towards the registration fee which reduces any barrier to entry. For this season, Sunstone has increased the number of scholarships to 300.
If any student has the financial support in place, then they can also opt for a Money-Back-Guarantee program wherein they can pay the complete charges at the beginning of the MBA program. Sunstone takes accountability for job placement in all of its models and if the student is unable to find a favourable job by the end of the course, they can reclaim this fee.

Overall, the emphasis is on getting every Sunstone student a job, irrespective of their financial standing. About 75% of Sunstone’s wards opt for the #PayAfterPlacement program which is also its driving force for providing accountable education, making them industry-ready, and finally getting them a job.

How is Sunstone supplying corporations and new-age businesses with industry-ready talent?

Sunstone’s curriculum has been designed by industry professionals who understand the pain-points & challenges every corporation faces. It is regularly-updated with every new change in the industry. For example, Sunstone Eduversity was the first to teach students about TikTok in its digital marketing specialization, which was later replaced by Instagram reels. So its students are adept & agile in learning the new trends that are popping up every day.

Unlike a 6-month internship, Sunstone focuses on internalizing soft skills & applied training with every student with a tailored 9-month internship. This is of utmost importance in bridging the gap between management students & industry, especially with fresh graduates.
In addition, Sunstone Eduversity has 10 tailored specializations that focus on the “do-er” role. Each specialization has its domain-specific events like boot camps, industry-speakers that give them a deeper insight into industry requirements & the future of job trends.

The Eduversity’s top achievers have bagged packages as high as 10 LPA & some of its alumni are currently working with various Fortune-500 companies.

What all aspects does Sunstone work upon to make its students readily employable?

The management program at Sunstone is made with extreme precision, with industry-driven requirements, and evolving demands of the industry so that students are able to bring the best to the table and be prepared to face every challenge given to them in the future.
Apart from regular specializations in Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations etc, Sunstone has also included applied-specialisations in Banking Operations, Insurance Management, Retail Management, HR & Recruitment, Sales Management, Logistics & Supply Chain, Digital Marketing, Market Research, Data Analytics. The curriculum is updated every 6 months making it extremely relevant to the industry’s needs. Frequent revamps also allow education providers to be more agile & dynamic and change as the industry changes.  Guest Lectures Series is another initiative that deserves mention, as it adds to the vision of seamless alignment. These lectures ensure not only the alignment of the academic team & management with the industry but directly let students interact with corporate leaders and entrepreneurs. Sunstone Eduversity offers 1200 hours of extra specializations, assessments, etc. for all the industries that recruit with Sunstone. Special training modules help students stay a step ahead of every other individual out there in the company they join.  During the pandemic, Sunstone launched a “WFH workshop for millennial managers” to ensure Sunstone graduates can effectively manage their teams in remote environments and corporates don’t face challenges in training their new hires.

By Kiran Merchant, Academic Director and Principal, Chettinad Sarvalokaa Education, International School, Chennai.

Being an educator for the last 20 years, I have witnessed increasing preference for international boards in the country. A lot of this can easily be attributed to the globalization of the world, which has led to a rise in demand for international education.

International education can mean different things for different people and I frequently come across parents and students with certain queries and misconceptions. The most prominent concern is whether opting for an international curriculum will affect a student’s higher education prospects

Here are some of the widely prevalent myths about the international boards in the country and I would also like to briefly mention why they are not true:

Myth # 1. All International Boards offer the same curriculum:

In India, there are multiple international boards, and each has its own distinct curriculum. While they all the offer flexible subject choices, follow progressive pedagogy, and focus on conceptual understanding and skill development, there are some notable differences in the way each curriculum is structured, approached and assessed. These boards offer a continuum of international education, through different programs and qualifications.

Myth # 2 International school students are not prepared well for the competitive exams in India

The rigorous curricula offered by the international boards ensure that the student’s conceptual understanding is clear and strong with a high degree of application skills. To achieve success in the competitive exams, students need to develop speed and accuracy by practising past papers. This applies to any student from any board of curriculum. Therefore, it is not the curriculum, but the persistent efforts and consistent practice put in by the students to prepare for these exams that is important. The Cambridge International board offers an exam series in March to enable students in India to focus on preparing for the competitive exams, and receive their Cambridge International A Level results in time to attend the college counselling sessions for local universities.

Myth # 3 Indian boards are tougher than International boards or vice-versa

The question here is what kind of education you are looking for. Most Indian boards emphasize on theoretical learning and knowledge accumulation. Their qualifying examinations give weightage to memorization, recall and written content. The New Education Policy attempts to change this, but it will take some time for the boards to implement the change at the ground level. Success will depend on the professional support provided by the schools or the boards to the teachers. The International curriculum focuses on conceptual understanding, practical application and developing academic skills. Many students who transition to International curriculum midway during schooling, find it very liberating because of the active learning practices which allow for critical and innovative thinking, independent research and promote higher order thinking of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.

In an International curriculum student have the option to decide on their rigour level based on their ability and personal and academic goals. For example, , Cambridge International students can opt for an Extended or Core syllabus in some subjects, keep their subject choices to a minimum or opt for more subjects, choose to focus on a particular discipline or have a broad based curriculum, and aim for Cambridge ICE or AICE Diploma certification. These choices make the courses relevant, interesting, engaging and meaningful for the students.

Myth # 4 Students of International schools only get admissions abroad and not in Indian Universities.

This is far from the truth. Findings from Cambridge International’s annual Student Destinations Survey 2018-19 highlighted that there is a steady increase in the number of students seeking to pursue higher education in local universities. The introduction of the March series in India since 2015 has enabled Cambridge students to meet the admission deadlines of local universities.

The higher education landscape in India has changed significantly in the last decade. Keeping in line with the worldwide educational trends, many local universities are now offering interdisciplinary and liberal arts courses either independently or through twinning programs with reputed foreign universities. Students from International Curriculum are at an advantage as they come from similar settings and the twinning structure works well for them financially and academically. One of the biggest advantages of International Curriculum, especially in Cambridge International, is the flexibility of subject choices and combinations. Students here can opt for a combination of subjects from different disciplines for broad based studies, or focus on a discipline of their choice and specialize in it. Both these options are well received by the Indian Universities.

This also dispels the myth that Indian universities do not accept students from International Curriculum. The Association of Indian Universities recognise the International Curriculum.

Myth # 5 International Schools are rooted in western culture

Some parents believe that International Curriculum does not promote culture appreciation. Boards like Cambridge International follow a global approach to education but encourage schools to develop learning within local, national and global contexts, ensuring that learners develop wider perspectives while recognizing and valuing their own culture. Syllabuses can be adapted to include content and examples that are relevant to students. The diverse student population in most of the International schools helps in developing cultural sensitivity, gives the learners an opportunity to learn and appreciate various cultures, enriches their schooling experience and prepares them for a global world.

Myth #6 International boards and schools are expensive

Schools with international curriculum incur heavy operational costs to meet the prescribed standard of the curriculum delivery. Through a continuous and stringent  inspections the board ensures that these schools maintain high academic standards, a safe and learning focussed school climate, high standards of school management, recruit teachers with appropriate skills and experience, have sufficient learning resources to support the learning program, use up-to-date technology to enable quality learning. This along with the annual affiliation fees for each level places a financial responsibility on the schools, the returns of which are beneficial to the learners in many ways. Apart from a well-rounded, learner centric and customised educational program, the international curriculum involves in-depth study which helps students to develop skills of analysis, evaluation, innovation, reflection and communication. These skills are highly valued by the universities and employers both in India and abroad.

Apart from the academic programs, international curriculum offers programs and activities to develop soft skills such as teamwork, time management, decision making, problem solving, confidence building and organizational skills. The Cambridge International works with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation to develop the above-mentioned skills. These programs add to the expenditure but provides holistic education to the students. The international curriculum offers greater value for money to the students.
