Under this program, a total of 111 institutions throughout India have been selected to serve as Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centers. The key themes addressed by the program include holistic education, Indian knowledge systems, academic leadership, governance, research, skill development, inclusivity, technology integration, learning outcomes identification, and assessment.

According to a UGC official, teachers will receive training in these institutions, with a mix of both offline and online programs. The program aims to accomplish the training of all 15 lakh teachers in higher education within the next two to three years. The ultimate goal of the training is to improve the quality of education at all levels by fostering excellence in educators and teaching practices.

According to the UGC official,  the program aims to ensure the holistic development of teachers and learners. It seeks to instill ethics and human values deeply rooted in Indian culture while nurturing multidisciplinary and critical thinking abilities among educators.

The panel is chaired by DDC vice-chairperson Jasmine Shah, will recommend metrics, goals, policies, and actionable plans for the reconstruction of Delhi’s higher education system within a year. The other members of the committee are Pramod Bhasin, founder Genpact and co-founder Ashoka University; Abhishek Gupta, skill development expert; Pankaj Jalote, Founding Director, IIIT Delhi; Arindam Bhattacharya, senior partner and Director, BCG; Devesh Kapur, Director of Asia Programs and Professor, Johns Hopkins University; Gaurav Khanna, Assistant Professor of Economics, UC San Diego; Sandeep Kumar, Secretary (Higher Education), Delhi government; among others.

“Nalanda 2.0, a non-profit policy think tank with a mission to make India’s higher education system world class, is the knowledge partner of DDC on this initiative,” a government official said.

Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister said this initiative furthers the government’s commitment to transform the education system in the national capital.

“We also wish to make Delhi a knowledge and innovation centre where some of the best talents in the world would want to live, study, and work as faculty members, students, and professionals,” Mr Sisodia said.
