Early Days
I belong to a poor farmer’s family. My first memory of school was my class in the cowshed with tattered gunny bags. The bell around the cattle’s neck doubled up as the school bell. These memories and my upbringing in a devout Warkari family inculcated a deep value and reverence for education. More so, by learning from my village headmaster, Guruji Venkatrao ji Kulkarni and the teachings of great philosopher saints Dnyaneshwara and Sant Tukaram. As I grew, I realized that despite meteoric growth in the demand for qualified engineers, there was a paucity of engineering colleges within Maharashtra.
In 1972, the drought could have been avoided, if there had been qualified engineers in irrigation and PWD. Maharashtra was also losing close to Rs 30 crore annually as the local students looked to other states to fulfil their dreams. I embarked on the journey to establish MIT engineering college using the land given from the Ghasias family. MIT engineering college was formally opened on August 5, 1983.

It is never about which of our institutes you choose to study in, it is more about how and where you reach in life thereafter. However, there is so much to be done. We, at MIT, are constantly innovating to meet the challenges of the present and the future technical advancements of the ever-changing world.
Combining traditional & modern methods of teaching
Value always binds the tradition with the modern methods of teaching. India has earned a great reverence, respect and recognition for its distinguished services through missionary pursuits in promoting the ‘Value Based Universal Education System’ and training programmes for World Peace. With the sole objective of meeting the long felt need of a centre of scientific and educational research, which would meet the doctrines of the traditional and the modern advancements, we have established a society and charitable trust. Since then, the MIT Group of Institutions have grown by leaps and bounds.
Science and spirituality go hand in hand
Science and spirituality go hand in hand to establish a peace loving society. Though I am an engineer by profession, I have been influenced greatly by Saint Philosopher Shree Dnyaneshwara, Swami Vivekananda, Saint Francis of Assisi and modern scientists like Dr Albert Einstein. It takes an understanding of the role of science and spirituality, especially along with the essence and philosophy of all world religions.
Future goals
Our aim is to promote peace. I have dedicated my life to human welfare and will propagate the concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
