The application for ISHAN UDAY, a special scholarship scheme for students from the north-eastern region of India, is open on the official scholarships portal of the Government of India. Eligible students can apply for the same till October 31, 2022.

The scholarship is given to students belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category from the north eastern region of India who aims to pursue higher education in any field. The scholarship is given to uplift the educational quality of the people in the area. An amount of 4500 rupees per month for general degree courses and 7800 rupees per month for technical/medical/professional/paramedical courses will be allotted to each selected candidate.

    Who can apply?

    Scholarships worth up to USD 100,000 over four years of study are on offer for Indian students and young professionals to pursue undergraduate studies in the area including Business, Computer Sciences, Phycology, Maths, Accounting, etc. According to the institution, applicants must have a SAT English score of 500 or an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent, a GPA of 6.0 and submit an essay to be considered for the minimum USD 15000 scholarship. The scholarship could go up to USD 25000, with band 7.0 in IELTS and an average score of at least 75% marks in classes 10 and 12.

    The  University of Hull Announces 5 New Scholarships for 160 countries including India covering full tuition fees on masters courses

    The University of Hull has recently become a full Chevening partner. Chevening is the UK’s leading Global Master’s scholarship programme and the University of Hull is announcing 5 new scholarships for students from eligible countries for full tuition fees on master’s programmes. Chevening is accepting applications from over 160 countries including India for the academic year 2022-23.

    To be eligible prospective applicants must hold a bachelors degree equivalent to a high UK second class honours. Students must also meet the English language requirements set out in Chevening’s guidance for applicants on their website. Prospective candidates must apply for a University of Hull full-time postgraduate taught programme, which leads to a master’s qualification. Chevening Scholars are required to demonstrate qualities of influence and leadership, and applicants must be able to demonstrate they have at least two years of work or equivalent experience by the end of September 2021. Lastly, all Chevening Scholars need to return to the county they were selected from at the end of the period of study.

    To be considered for a scholarship, students need to submit their applications via Chevening’s online application system and complete their master’s degree application on the University of Hull’s website. Chevening’s online application system will be open until 2nd November 2021.

    Restrictions preventing students from applying for Chevening/University of Hull scholarships include individuals holding dual citizenship where one nationality is British (unless exempt in Chevening’s guidance for applicants); candidates applying for D.Phil or PhD programmes; students wishing to study a course with a duration of either less than nine months or more than 12 months; students who are receiving or who have previously received financial support from either the University of Hull or the UK Government.

    2. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

    The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India is offering this scholarship to support the higher studies of students from financially weaker sections at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The students who are above the 80th percentile of successful candidates in Class 12 or equivalent board examination are eligible for this scholarship. They must be pursuing a regular degree course in the field of engineering or medicine at an AICTE/DCI/MCI recognized institution/college. The annual income of the family should be less than INR 8 lakhs from all sources.

    Eligibility: Class 12 passed students pursuing undergraduate/postgraduate/professional degree

    Awards: INR 10,000 to INR 20,000 per annum

    3. S.N. Bose Scholars Program

    This scholar program is jointly offered by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF). Under this program, Indian students                 pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree courses get an opportunity to experience world-class research facilities at top US institutions. The students from disciplines like Chemical Science, Atmospheric and Earth Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Physical Science and Mathematical and Computational Sciences can apply.

    Eligibility: Bachelor’s or master’s degree students

    Awards: Stipend, airfare and health insurance

    4. Merit Cum Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses CS (Minorities)

    This merit-cum-means scholarship is meant to support the technical and professional education of minority community students (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Buddhists and Parsis/Zoroastrians) at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The students who are pursuing studies at undergraduate or postgraduate level can apply for this scholarship provided they have secured at least 50% marks in the previous examination. Also, the annual income of the family should be less than INR 2.50 lakhs from all sources.

    Eligibility: Minority community students pursuing professional or technical courses

    Awards: Course fee of INR 20,000 per annum or actual and maintenance allowance of up to INR 1,000 per month for 10 months.

    5. Khorana Program for Scholars

    This scholarship program is a joint initiative of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and WINStep Forward for Indian students pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate course in Biotechnology and allied areas. The students who are in the pre-final year of B.Tech., B.Sc., B.E., M.Tech., M.Sc., M.E., M.S., Integrated B.S-M.S., B.V.Sc., M.V.Sc., B.Pharm., M.Pharm., MBBS., and Master in Medical Science and Technology (MMST) courses can apply for this scholarship. They are required to complete their degree before the start of the scholarship program and obtain a CGPA of 8.0 or higher/80% and higher in their degree program.

    Eligibility: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biotechnology and allied areas

    Awards: Stipend, airfare and health insurance

    6. Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF)

    An initiative of MHRD, Government of India, this fellowship is announced twice in a year for students pursuing B.Tech./ M.Tech./ M.Sc. or integrated M.Sc./ M.Tech program. The key objective of this fellowship is to promote technical research studies at top institutions of India like IISc/IISERs/IITs and Central Universities. The students are required to have obtained a CGPA/CPI of at least 8.0 or equivalent on a 10-point scale.

    Eligibility: B.Tech graduate, final year B.Tech, integrated M.Tech, integrated M.Sc students from IISc/ IITs/ NITs/ IISER/ IIITs
