In today’s quickly changing educational landscape, AI models like ChatGPT have emerged as effective partners for schools seeking the best teaching approaches. With their ability to interpret and create human-like writing, these AI models provide a once-in-a-lifetime potential to change the learning process.

I would like to discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) may play a critical role in changing education, allowing individualized learning, and equipping both educators and students with cutting-edge skills to succeed in the digital era.
Embracing ChatGPT in Schools for Teaching
The incorporation of AI models has opened up a world of possibilities for improving teaching and learning experiences. Among these game-changing AI models, ChatGPT, a strong language model chatbot developed by OpenAI, stands out as a possible game-changer.

This huge language model has a wide range of features, including text production, language translation, creative content creation, and instructive question responding.

One significant feature of ChatGPT is its capacity to analyze large volumes of data, allowing for tailored education for pupils. Consider having a virtual tutor who creates individualized learning plans based on each student’s specific requirements and interests.

ChatGPT’s ability to create text that closely mimics human writing makes it an essential tool for giving students critical feedback. ChatGPT can assist students in evaluating their writing projects or problem-solving activities.

Teachers may use ChatGPT’s integration into the educational environment to create more dynamic and interesting classes, while students can obtain individualized help and insights tailored to their individual learning styles. The promise for a more accessible, efficient, and inclusive learning environment grows as the educational journey accepts AI help.

ChatGPT includes a variety of other possible educational benefits in addition to these aspects. It can, for example, be used to:

● Give kids access to educational materials that they would not otherwise have.
● Assist pupils in learning at their own speed.
● Make learning more dynamic and interesting.
● Allow instructors to focus on more vital duties by freeing up their time.

AI models like ChatGPT bring both intriguing opportunities and problems in the ever-changing educational landscape. While they have the potential to transform the way we teach and learn, there are some key issues to consider.

It is critical to ensure that these models are used ethically and fairly, since we must be aware of biases that may unwittingly impact educational outcomes.

Despite these obstacles, the transformational power of AI models in education cannot be underestimated. Students can benefit from a more efficient and successful learning experience by receiving tailored teaching and timely feedback.

These AI models can continually learn and adapt, resulting in a dynamic and engaging environment for both instructors and learners.

Here are some specific applications of ChatGPT in education:

1. ChatGPT may be used to develop personalized learning programs for each student based on their unique requirements and interests. Students may learn at their own speed and concentrate on the things that are most relevant to them.
2. ChatGPT can be used to provide students with feedback on their writing, problem-solving abilities, or other aspects of their work. This feedback may be personalized to each student’s specific needs and can assist pupils in improving their abilities over time.
3. ChatGPT may be used to generate text, translate languages, compose various types of creative material, and provide helpful answers to your inquiries. This may be a useful tool for students working on generative activities like writing essays or making presentations.
4. Access to resources, ChatGPT may be used to provide students access to educational materials that they might not have otherwise. Textbooks, essays, and videos are examples of resources.
5. Learning that is engaging and interactive, ChatGPT may be used to make learning more engaging and interactive. This may be accomplished by creating games, simulations, and other interactive learning experiences with ChatGPT.
6. ChatGPT may be used to free up instructors’ time so that they can concentrate on more vital duties. This involves responsibilities such as lesson preparation, grading work, and offering feedback to students.

ChatGPT and other AI models have the potential to transform education. These models can help students learn more effectively and quickly by offering tailored teaching, producing feedback, and learning over time. As AI technology advances, we should expect to see many more ways in which AI may be utilized to improve education.

Law Prep Tutorials has come under scrutiny for its recent print advertisement claiming false & misleading information

Investigation done by Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) found that the brand used false photographs & inflated ranks

Owner of Lucknow Franchise of Law Prep, Nitin Rakesh published fake information around Lucknow CLAT 2023 toppers in various promotional activities

CCC took action against the brand after investigations revealed that the brand has violated various clauses of the ASCI code & stands guilty of wrong practices

June 2023: With the board examinations results being declared, the next major step for students and their parents is to make a career decision and start a new journey to build a future. Educational institutions and entrance exam coaching centers across the country gear up their promotional activities to enroll students.

In such a promotional activity recently done by a CLAT coaching institute Law Prep Tutorials came under scrutiny for publishing fake and misleading ads.

Law Prep Lucknow, owned by Nitin Rakesh has been claiming Lucknow CLAT topper, All India Rank 1 to 10 and over 500 selections in NLUs in their various print, digital and offline advertisements across the city. Surprisingly, the claims made by them were found to be fake and unsubstantiated.

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) came heavily on Law Prep Tutorial for publishing advertisements that had misleading and wrong information showcasing their students as AIR toppers and directed them to immediately take down advertisements.

Such advertisements confuse the customers and it is important that advertisements should be based on results that can be proven, the governing body rules out.

“This incident raises several concerns on the intentions of Law Prep Tutorials as such advertisements are a blatant attempt to mislead vulnerable students and their families into enrolling in the coaching institute. Where are their ethics,”said an Industry leader on the request of anonymity.

The advertisement was recently published in a large and reputed newspaper in Lucknow and in various social media and online platforms. This was reported to be a serious violation of various clauses of the ASCI Code. A complaint was filed against the heinous act of Law Prep Tutorials with the Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) which investigated the matter and found Law Prep Tutorials guilty.

As per the copy of the ruling made by the governing body in this matter it was found that Law Prep Tutorials claims of producing “Lucknow CLAT 2023 toppers” and ” 500+ selections in NLUs” were baseless.

Despite the ASCI requesting Law Prep Tutorials to address the complaints, the coaching institute did not respond to the council or the complainant. As a result, the CCC upheld the complaint and advised Law Prep Tutorial to modify or withdraw the advertisement by May 9, 2023.

“Such predatory and exploitative practices by coaching institutes can have a severe impact on the mental health and financial stability of students and their families. Law Prep Tutorial has been found guilty of such practices and is advised to take this matter seriously and ensure that its future advertising practices are in compliance with the ASCI Code, ” shared officials of a well-known entrance exams preparation brand.

We will never support such acts. It is a matter of shame for Law Prep Tutorials. Students treat us as their Gurus and if we do such things then it is a complete loss of respect. This brand should be boycotted. They owe an apology to each industry player” they added.

Last year, Law Prep Tutorial, Marwari Catalysts’ Portfolio Startup, raised USD 100K in seed round from MCats.Founded in 2008 by Sagar & Anupama Joshi, Law prep Lucknow is a franchisee of Jodhpur based Law Prep Tutorials. The franchisee owner Mr Nitin Rakesh has cases of extortion and cheating (IPC Section 386 & 420) pending against him in the Lucknow court. He is out on bail.

Ajit K Chaturvedi, Former Director of IIT Roorkee, and currently a faculty of Electrical Engineering at IIT Kanpur, has shared his opinions on why some students gradually lose interest in Engineering after following that career path. After taking a significant interest in “engineering subjects”, mainly Physics, Chemistry, and Maths at school, many Engineering students tend to give up on the Engineering curriculum around the third or fourth semester of their course. There may be many reasons behind this; Chaturvedi helps us explore some of them.

The seed of interest towards Engineering is mainly sown in young minds when they realise their affinity towards science and technology. They are fascinated by the latest technological innovations that they have come across. They explore the three aforementioned subjects and eventually excel in one or more of them. However, the disconnect to the stream starts to seep in once they reach the third or fourth semester of their course. The curriculum that they study in college has barely any connection to the current technological advancements that drew them in in the first place. Slowly they start moving on from engineering when they also get a glimpse of the skimpy number of job opportunities in core Engineering.

Chaturvedi says that there are myths in our society about what constitutes science and what constitutes engineering. He believes it to be the responsibility of the people in STEM to raise awareness that engineering education is not divorced from, but built on the foundations of physics, chemistry and maths. The word “science” per see should not be conceived as simply physics, chemistry, maths and biology.

Usually, students grow disinterested towards engineering seeing the rising level of difficulty in the subjects they perceive as “science”. This disappointment often stems from the societal conditioning that engineering is something different from the “science” subjects they have studied.

Chaturvedi also perceives engineering students to be a byproduct of the engineering colleges: and like any product, they also have a shelf-life. We rarely see a product which retains its relevance in the market even after two to three years of its introduction in the market. This is exactly the challenge faced by the engineering curriculum.

Chaturvedi advises both internal and external efforts that can be made to retain the students’ interest in engineering. “The schools, societies and IITs can help prepare prospective engineering students with a better understanding of what they can expect from engineering education and how they can relate it to the technical world we see and experience”, he says. With the collective external addressing of this issue on the part of the IITs, the students and the curriculum both can be saved.

Internally, he says, the engineering curriculum should have a revision and necessary reform every two to three years to keep the curriculum from being redundant to the learner. Minor changes should keep being made on a continuous basis. Then, it might be possible to strike a balance between teaching the “Science of Engineering” and keeping the passion for engineering alive in students.

Various searches and seizures were carried out at three premises in Bengaluru, Karnataka by the Enforcement Department (ED) in relation to a case filed against Raveendran Byju and his company Think and Learn. The raids were carried out under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

Various incriminating documents and digital data were seized during the raid. The company runs a popular online education portal under the name Byjus. The FEMA searches have revealed that the company has earned Rs 28000 crore during the tenure of 13 years from 2011 to 2023. In the same time period, the company has also made Rs 9754 crore payments to various foreign jurisdictions in the name of overseas direct investment.

In the name of advertisements and marketing expenses, the company has booked around Rs 944 crore which also included the amount paid to foreign jurisdiction. Allegedly, the company has also not prepared its financial statements since the year 2020-21. The audition of these accounts has also not been conducted which is mandatory.

The authenticity of the figures provided by the company is not yet determined as it is being cross examined with that of the bank. Several complaints from private persons initiated the investigation against Byjus. The founder and the CEO of the company did not even appear during the investigation in spite of several summons issued.

Byjus legal team spokesperson labelled the raid as ‘routine inquiry under FEMA’ in the statement released by Byjus. The company has stated that it has been transparent and completely aligned to the ethics and high standards for integrity of its operations. And it shall co-operate with the authorities to provide all the required information and resolve the matter soon.  It also posited that it would still focus on delivering high quality educational products and services to its customers in India and across the world.
