ICFAI conducts interactive webinar session on “Shaping Mindsets in Society: The Role of Art and Creativity”
“Our collective aim is to serve the society through sharing the positivity always through art and creativity” said Dr Sudarsan Pattnaik, International Sand Sculptor, President, Lalit Kala Academy, Odisha at the 35th Webinar conducted on December 17th, 2021 on the topic “Shaping Mindsets in Society: The Role of Art and Creativity”. The Webinar is a part of the ICFAI’s WiseViews Interactive Webinar Series conducted on every Friday at 7.30 pm.
Dr. Sudarsan Pattnaik in his speech appealed the youngsters to play a big role in sending positive vibes rather than the negative ones irrespective of their area of work. Dr.Pattnaik also stated that they have tried to motivate the common people through their sand artworks during the tough times of COVID lockdown.
Dr. Pattnaik gave a brief of his struggles in his early life and how he became an internationally revered sand sculptor from a school dropout. He also stated that sand art is very tough because of the fineness of the sand which is difficult to hold. But it requires a lot of practice to master this special art. “Very soon we are coming up with a certificate course in Sand Art which youngsters can learn and build a career in Sand Art”, he explained.
Dr. Pattnaik, further explained that he and his team always choose the burning current issues to create a spark in the minds of the people and how it benefits them. God do not bestow everyone with a creative mind and those who have should make full use of it to serve the society to transfer positive and constructive messages that have an impact.
Answering to a query in the Q & A session, Dr. Sudarsan Pattnaik said “People are my gurus and I have learnt a lot and draws inspiration from the feedback they give on my sand artworks”. He also said that Puri sand is very holy and sacred and all his life is bounded with the Puri beach and Lord Jagannath.
The webinar was moderated by Prof. R Prasad, Director – Academic Wing, ICFAI Group and Prof. Sudhakar Rao, Director – Branding, ICFAI Group. About 250 participants including entrepreneurs, Research Scholars, working professionals from various parts of the country registered for this webinar which was also live streamed on facebook.

Dr. Sudarsan Pattnaik is one of the most famous sand sculptors in the world. He started developing this tough art at the age of 7 and achieved mastery without assistance from anyone.
Dr. Sudarsan Pattnaik represented India at over 50 International Sand Sculpture Championships held in countries like the USA, the UK, Germany, Australia, France, Japan Russia, the UAE, China, Singapore, and Malaysia, and won more than 27 Championships for the country.
The Government of India honoured him with the prestigious Padma Shri award in the year 2014. He also published a book on SAND ART and running an Institute namely; The Golden Sand Art Institute to train young children in Sand Art.
